BARBARA GEORGANS is a diverse playwright who writes comedy, drama and book for musical theatre. Many of her works have been produced or have had staged readings here in Chicago. Among the musicals she has written are: Nobody Likes Retsina, The Look of Christmas, A Christmas Valentine, Foxy and Sincerely Yours. Her comedies include Richard III, OLE!, Baggage Claim, and Man on the Street. Barbara was awarded an Illinois Arts Council Grant for her work on her play Oak Street Beach, which had a staged reading at City Lit Theater in 2019. It then had a webinar presentation by Her Story Theater at Loyola University in October 2020.Café Sounion, previously named Café Cape Sounion, had a reading at Chicago Writers Bloc with Perennial Theater Company in September 2020. Café Sounion is a full-length play without an intermission.Barbara is a member of Chicago Writers Bloc and The Dramatists Guild. She currently lives in Niles, Illinois.
